AAAC’s Mission

Asian American Arts Chicago AAAC, formerly APIDA Arts, is a not-for-profit, multi-disciplinary arts organization whose mission is to support and amplify artistic expression from the Asian American diaspora in Chicago, Illinois. We produce festivals, performances, and support a database of Asian American identified artists to provide better representation, equity, and opportunity.

AAPI Afinity Night

Catch the world premiere of the play, GORGEOUS by Keiko Green, produced by Rivendell Theatre, on a night specially dedicated to and celebrating APIDA audience members. Enjoy light bites at a pre-show reception. Stay for a post-show discussion with APIDA Art’s Mia Park and other community leaders.

Mosaic

APIDA Arts was invited to share work from Asian, Pacific Island, Desi/South Asian creatives at MOSAIC, a gala benefit for the Chicago Cultural Alliance.

 

World Dumpling Fest

Ki is 2/3 of the rock band Kim, Chicago’s first and only Asian American female power pop group. Longtime multi-dimensional artist and drummer Mia Park (APIDA Arts artistic director) and singer-guitarist Janet Knowles have played music together for over 20 years.

Sama Sama Project

Join us for an afternoon celebrating Filipino culture and music in the heart of Chicago! Chicago’s Premier Filipino Folk Fusion band, SamaSama Project presents the Great Filipino Songbook, a bedazzling performance of the most memorable Filipino songs shaped by American pop culture from the past century.

Heritage Roundtable

Hear APIDA Arts producer Emily Zhang speak about how we preserve, promote, and develop creative Asian American Pacific Island heritage in Chicago. This is a free event with other esteemed speakers.

The APIDA Arts Festival

In 2023, we produced the largest arts festival of its kind in the Midwest. Over 1,100 participants attended the free APIDA Arts Festival which showcased 35 performances and demonstrations, provided free education to 75 workshop participants, and hired over 125 artists and staff.
